art lessons "I like to turn people on to art and bring art into their lives. I find satisfaction in sharing my knowledge with others, so teaching comes naturally to me. I believe that everyone has a part of them that is creative, but in order to express that you need to develop your skills. Initially when you get into painting, the driving force is the excitement and joy of it. I then find that teaching in a natural way is the best thing, just learning the basics. Later, when you'll want to push and develop yourself and get more into the depth of things, then my teaching will be more technically specific and tuned to what level you're at." Reiner graduated from Designskolen Kolding in Denmark with a degree in Design & Illustration. She exhibits regularly in the Bay Area and across the country. Her work is collected in Europe and the US. She has taught Classical Painting and Drawing privately for the last 5 years since living in San Francisco. private lessons: classical painting You will be working from a still life, which is a fine way to learn new techniques. I'll guide you in the methods of classical painting, while inspiring you to grow and improve. A minimum of 6 lessons will provide you with a basic knowledge of how to build up a painting, so you can use the techniques in your own work. Some students take lessons over a long period and go deeper into the work. The one-on-one situation is a very intensive learning approach and will enable you to learn much faster than in a class situation. The hands-on lessons are important for learning about paint quality, and the physical side of painting as opposed to the theoretical side. It's recommended to take notes along the way. If you want to, you can show me some of your previous work, but it's not necessary. It's important to have developed your drawing skills to paint in a realistic manner. It's recommended to take a few drawing lessons with me if you haven't drawn much previously. Topics covered: Initial sketch, transfer of drawing, monochromatic under-painting, layers of color, color mixing/theory, glazes, using the tools and materials, mediums, hands-on demonstrations, studio tips and much more. Fee: $120 for each 90 min. lesson. A min. of 6 lessons is needed to cover all the steps in this technique. A discount of 10% is offered if you pay for 6 lessons at one time; $648. private lessons: learning to see - drawing the natural way [beginner to advanced] I put great emphasis on learning good drawing skills before doing anything else in art. Whether you want to pursue realism or abstract painting, do sculpture or design, drawing is the language you will need in order to express yourself visually. Learning to draw from a still life will provide you with all the challenges of basic shape, form, light/shade and textures. It will also help you with your hand-eye connection and the sensitivity of muscular control. I will design the lessons to your level and needs. If you are a beginner I will make sure we start with smaller exercises before going more in depth. Drawing is fun! Topics covered: Intermediate and Advanced: Warming up, observation and measuring methods, outline and negative space. Drafting methods, cross hatching, markings, quality of lines, controlling value steps, tonal studies, focal points, planes of the 3-dimensional object, projected and reflected light.
